If the 770 is used as an X terminal, as a remote display to an X application running on the LAN or WAN, then it has plenty of processing power and memory capacity because all it has to do is to be the display to the applications that it acts as a remote display for. Regarding the 770 as a little computer that connects to networks easily is selling it way short. Regarding it, however, as a window on a world full of remote apps, many of which are running on supercomputing grids, is the way to view the 770. Don't look at it as a competitor to any handheld Windows device - look at it as a WAN network display resource.

The software is Linux, yes, but even more importantly, the software is X. Everyone who fails to grasp that needs to get their head around the significance of this. If it was just Linux it would be nowhere near the big deal that it is also X.

Got mine too yesterday - regarding the screen - it is fantastically high res, but one thing IMO lets it down a little (I'd liek to know if other people have noticed this.. :O)

I think it's the layer that does the touch-sensitivity, it looks as though it's adding some sort of odd polarisation or moire pattern over the screen - in simple terms this means that as you tilt the screen, you get an apparent 'grain' of rainbow-colours - particularly in bright/white areas. It has the overall effect of making photos look like they're a lower resolution that the fantastic 800x480 screen underneath...

Don't get me wrong - I'm making a total idiot of myself in the office acting like a kid-at-christmas now that it's arrived (I was hitting refresh on the DHL page every 15mins for most of the day!!), and the screen is still awesome, but this point does let it down a little - what do other people think?

I'm in the US and I've been looking at the specs debating between Nokia or a Dell . . . The problem I am having is the processor speed and the lack of CF and standard SD card access . . . Those are the cards I use in my digital camera . . .

Just my 2 cent from looking at the specs . . .
I may just wait for the next version . .
